The major security issue in Group FaceTime, which was unveiled late last month, is now finally fixed with the update to iOS 12.1.4, which began rolling out on all Apple devices today.

The bug allowed someone to call their FaceTime contacts and receive audio from them before they answered the call without their knowledge. This was a big problem, of course, so Apple initially took the Group FaceTime feature offline while it worked behind the scenes to fix the bug.

Now that it's done, Group FaceTime is back online and everyone who runs the newiOS 12.1.4 is available. An official statement was also issued by Apple:

Today's software update fixes the Group FaceTime security bug. We apologize again and thank our customers for their patience. In addition to addressing the reported bug, our team carried out a thorough FaceTime service security audit and updated the FaceTime app and the server to improve security. This includes an unidentified vulnerability in FaceTime 's Live Photos feature. In order to protect customers who have not yet upgraded to the latest software, we updated our servers to block FaceTime 's Live Photos feature for olderiOS and macOS versions.
